Also known as INDOLE, 2-METHYL-3-(2-AMINO)PROPANE, 2-a-DIMETHYLTRYPTAMINE, 2-METHYL-3-(2-AMINO)PROPYLINDOLE, 2-Me-a-MT

Adding a methyl group at the indole 2-position of an already orally active tryptamine unexpectedly cut potency by roughly tenfold instead of raising it. The result also shifted the character toward sedation rather than stimulation, upending the author's structure-activity expectations.
